A recent graduate of the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography program at New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts, Bilo Hussein brings a broad background in editorial, advertising, and communications to her work as a visual artist. A believer in the importance of new media, she uses online social networks as a platform for sharing her work with the world, in order to break the boundaries of culture and geographical distance. That work encompasses still life, fashion, and portraiture, and includes a recent series of studies of women who have, like Hussein herself, experienced both gender inequality and cultural displacement.

Bilo was recently awarded as a semifinalist for 2014 Adobe Design Achievement Awards in photography category in New York. Her work has been featured in Italian Newspaper La Repubblica along with renowned international photography blogs.
